1993 “Image Synapse” with Opera (Kakiage Nahoko, Sagara Nami), Metropolis Aborigines Report Event, Sumida Riverside Hall, Tokyo. LED installation by Moriwaki Hiroyuki, direction by Yamaguchi Katsuhiro.
“Opera” participated in the European tour “Metropolis Aborigines” (November 1992, organized by Christophe Charles and Sakai Shinichi). The tour was following the “Media Opera” on Awaji Island (October 1992). The Opera Sumida Riverside concert was held in Spring 1993 as one of the “report events” of the “Metropolis Aborigines Tour”.
Opera and Yamaguchi Katsuhiro would participate in the “Japan Culture Festival” at Paris UNESCO Hall, as part of the “Tokyo Experimental Art Ensemble” concert in May 1993. Yamaguchi Katsuhiro and Opera then joined forces to prepare the UNESCO concert, and their collaboration culminated in the 14th International Video Art Festival of Locarno (Switzerland) where they were awarded the “Conseil de l’Europe Prize for the contribution to Video Art” and “Grand prix de la ville de Locarno” for the piece they renamed “Metabolism in Locarno” after “Image Synapse”.
